There has been discussion over the past year about the city of Providence investing or not investing in enhancing the pickle ball facility at Bishop or even elsewhere in the city. As a model, not necessarily for Nathan Bishop, the town of Smithfield has created a significant facility that just opened in the past week or so. It is dramatically better to my eye than any other outdoor facility in RI. It has 8 dedicated courts in a semi wooded atmosphere with ideal fencing, sitting areas and even a dreaded porta potty. No need to bring nets. I suggest checking it out, there is daily play, but more significantly this investment by a relatively small town, Smithfield, should put to shame the hesitation by the city of Providence to make even a modest investment. Roger Williams I think would be appalled by the lack of pickle ball courts in the city he found.
